Job Summary
Review electronic medical records initiated by healthcare providers to verify completeness and accuracy of diagnoses and services. Perform prospective and retrospective chart reviews using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems to confirm assigned codes and ensure compliance with federal regulations. Analyze documentation for authorized signatures and patient identification to support treatment administration and results obtained. Assist with accounts receivable follow-up on outstanding claims for assigned areas of focus. Requires AHIMA CCS-P or AAPC CPC certification, 12 months coding experience, and working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Georgia collection laws. Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and insurance billing procedures
- Working knowledge of medical chart audits/review
- Knowledge of State of Georgia collection laws
- Proven organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Effective analytical/computational skills
- Extensive accounting software skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, patients, peers, professional staff and management
- High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P) or AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- 12 months coding/chart review or related experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in E&M & in-office procedure coding along with assigning ICD-10 codes
