Job Summary
Review medical record documentation to identify pertinent facts for selecting comprehensive diagnoses and procedures. Code evaluation and management to appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes. Meet with physicians to resolve coding issues, secure signatures on unsigned dates of service, and tag files for follow-up. Assist coding staff with medical terminology and policy interpretation while preparing case reports to initiate the billing process. This remote role requires a Certified Coding Associate, Certified Coding Specialist, or Certified Professional Coder credential.
Required Qualifications
- Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials (the specialty-specific credential is only valid for that employee's department))
Desired Qualifications
- Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate's degree in a related field
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Associate degree - Medical Coding & Billing
