Job Summary
Certified Coder responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9/ICD-10, ensuring coding accuracy and regulatory compliance, collaborating with providers to resolve discrepancies, conducting audits to improve coding quality, staying updated on coding guidelines, maintaining HIPAA confidentiality, and assisting with medical billing as needed. Requires CCS, CCS-P, or RHIT certification with strong analytical, attention to detail, and communication skills to support accurate reimbursement in a hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- CCS, CCS-P or RHIT (Required)
- Proficient knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Knowledge of DRG coding is a plus
- Experience with medical collections or medical office operations is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication with healthcare providers and team members
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
