Job Summary
Certified Coder - Anesthesia (Remote; must reside in AZ, TX, TN, NH, or NC). Duties include abstracting clinical information, assigning ICD-10/CPT-4 codes to records, reviewing anesthesia CPT/ICD-10/ASA/HCPCS coding on charge tickets, ensuring proper DRG assignments, sending back incomplete documentation as needed, identifying cosmetic/prepaid cases with dual-ticketing for insurance and patient responsibility, delivering coded charts to billing, assisting Billing/AR, maintaining confidentiality, and complying with information security policies. Requires CCS-P or CPC, 2+ years healthcare coding experience, knowledge of CPT/ICD-10/ASA/HCPCS, medical terminology, and strong MS Word/Excel skills. Full-time remote role with base pay aligned to market location; base pay will vary with knowledge and experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- CCS-P or CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification from AAPC or AHIMA
- Minimum of 2 years coding experience in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, ASA and HCPCS coding
- Background in Medical Terminology
- Background in Anatomy and Physiology preferred but not required
- Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and systems
- MS Word and MS Excel skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Punctuality and reliability
