Job Summary
Perform personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and ambulating clients. Prepare simple meals and assist with eating. Provide companionship through walking, exercising, reading, and games. Handle safety supervision, medication reminders, laundry, light housekeeping, and shopping. Drive clients to appointments or errands when required. Report changes in client condition to the Agency office. Maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance and demonstrate empathy for vulnerable older adults.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Must have reliable transportation to and from a client's home
- Must have a valid driver's license
- State minimum required liability insurance coverage
- Positive driving record
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to read care plan
- Criminal Background Clearance
- TB clearance according to Griswold policy
- At least 3 satisfactory references or employment verifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must be able to understand the problems of elderly persons and persons with disabilities
- Language and literacy skills are adequate to communication needs and requests of the client
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred
- Demonstrates empathy for vulnerable older adults and values their independence
- Maintain cheerful outlook while with client
- Capable of working independently when needed
- Punctual and hard working
