Job Summary
Certified Automotive Service Technician role responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing vehicle inspections, documenting findings with measurements, identifying issues and communicating solutions to the Service team. Collaborates with Service Advisors to update repair timelines, conducts road tests and pre-delivery inspections, sources parts with the Parts Department, and maintains a clean, safe shop. Requires Red Seal Certification (or active certification process), previous automotive experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to work independently and in a team, stay organized under pressure, and meet physical demands of the shop environment. Emphasizes safety, confidentiality, customer satisfaction, and opportunities for advancement.
Required Qualifications
- Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certification or currently in the process of challenging it
- Previous experience as an automotive technician is required
- A valid BC Driver’s license is required, including a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required
- Able to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to work the physical requirements of a service technician role
- Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- High level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness
- Ability to work in an automotive shop environment
- Indoor automotive shop with multiple service bays
- Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust
- Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment
- Temperature can vary (shops may be cooler in winter, warmer in summer despite heating/ventilation)
