Certified Anesthesiogist Assistant

Job Summary
Examine patient history for allergies or illnesses, evaluate and prepare patients, and discuss surgical procedures and recovery side effects. Determine appropriate anesthesia administration methods, perform anesthetics, and administer medication for pain relief. Liaise with medical doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers while overseeing patient recovery and pain management. Provide education on post-surgical procedures, advise on medication dosage, and assist in procedure preparation. Supervise and assist other Anesthetists as needed. Work Monday through Friday on a waterfall schedule with 3.5 days per week across Charlotte Surgery Center's Museum and Wendover Campuses. Participate in clinical instruction of anesthesia students via our on-campus program.
Required Qualifications
- Master's in anesthesia assistant program through an accredited program
- Current AA license through the Medical Board
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Ability to provide safe pre-and post-anesthetic care using innovative and proven techniques
- Ability to assess patients' medical history and plan anesthesia administration for the best outcome
- High patient acuity with the ability to provide compassionate care to every patient
- Ability to work in a team, but also autonomously when needed
- Strong written and oral skills with the ability to communicate clearly under pressure
- Proficiency with technology including medical equipment and computers
- Ability to stand for longer periods of time
- Accustomed to frequent and prolonged movement
- Ability to perform work in a hospital where the environment may be stressful and often disruptive
