Job Summary
Certification Engineer (Japan Specialist) at Wayve to own regulatory requirements in Japan for AV2.0, coordinating across Engineering, Product, Legal and Public Policy to ensure regulatory alignment and compliance. You will translate regulatory requirements into actionable internal deliverables, track progress across programmes, and interface with OEMs and regulators. Responsibilities include regulatory alignment and documentation, cross-functional collaboration, regulatory change feedback, requirements management, and OEM/partner engagement. Desirable experience includes ADAS/AV regulations (L2/L3) and experience tracking compliance within engineering programs. The role is full-time and based at Tokyo or Yokohama offices with a hybrid work policy and some international travel; location flexibility for other cases may apply.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with certification / homologation processes in Japan and at UNECE level
- Understanding of EU and FMVSS frameworks for US alignment
- Ability to interpret complex regulation and operationalise it into internal documentation and tracking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and bring clarity to complex technical programmes
- Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented: able to spot gaps and proactively drive resolution
