Job Summary
Collect blood and other patient specimens for diagnostic testing by identifying patients, explaining procedures, performing venipunctures, and accurately labeling/ preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. Adhere to safety protocols and follow verbal and written instructions exactly while maintaining calm and conscientious performance under high volume and STAT conditions. Demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction. Maintain a valid California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I certificate and complete required continuing education to uphold State CPT I certification.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions exactly.
- Must demonstrate and promote teamwork.
- Must be able to work in a calm and conscientious manner under high volume and STAT conditions.
- Have Basic communication skills and the ability to be caring and personable with patients are mandatory.
- Rigid accuracy in the identification of patient names and numbers and the ability to perform phlebotomy successfully using established procedures on patients of all ages are essential qualifications.
- Must have a valid and current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I certificate.
- Must complete required continuing education requirements to maintain State CPT I certification.
- Three or more years of full-time laboratory experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of standard laboratory terminology is preferred.
