Job Summary
Certified Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in delivering pharmaceutical care by aiding in the preparation, dispensing, record-keeping, and transportation of medications for patients across neonatal to geriatric ages. Works under minimal supervision with a high level of proficiency, and participates in a transitional duty period. Must hold Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration and obtain PTCB or ExCPT certification within 6 months of hire. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Responsibilities include communicating with staff, identifying equipment or operational problems, interacting with health-care professionals, and supporting patient care outside direct pharmacist supervision. Availability includes all shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency coverage. Physical demands include lifting 20-50 lbs and prolonged standing/sitting, with ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Location: Richmond, VA (Richmond, United States). This role supports hospital operations and patient care in a multidisciplinary setting at VCU Health.
Required Qualifications
- Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required
- Pharmacy Technician certification from the PTCB or ExCPT required within 6 months of employment
