Job Summary
Perform routine occupational therapy treatment procedures on patients or clients as determined by a Registered Occupational Therapist. Assist with the preparation of treatment modalities, develop individual evaluation and treatment plans, and monitor patient progress under supervision. Instruct clients on adaptive device use, recommend service modifications, and maintain accurate treatment records while observing safety precautions. Work Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm under the direction of a Registered Occupational Therapist. This position requires travel between hospital campuses in Cranston and Pascoag, RI.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a certified occupational therapy assistant program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board
- One (1) year of employment in an occupational therapy program in a public or private hospital, rehabilitation center or similar institution
- Familiarity with occupational therapy treatment, equipment, accessories, modalities and precautions as applied to patients/clients
- Ability to gain and maintain cooperation and confidence of patients/clients
- Ability to follow specific oral and written directions from registered occupational therapists and/or medical staff
- Ability to assist the registered occupational therapist in achieving patient goals
- Ability to report patient/client status as necessary
- Ability to prepare and maintain treatment records
- Ability to participate and report at team conferences
- Willingness and ability to travel between both hospital campuses in Cranston, RI, and Pascoag, RI, as clinically needed
