Job Summary
Plan, prepare, and serve fresh, nutritious meals to children in an Early Childhood service. Involve children in cooking experiences, develop kid-friendly menus, and promote healthy eating; support families with knowledge on optimal meal requirements; foster an engaging mealtime environment that supports learning, curiosity and well-being. Essential are food-safety practices, understanding of allergies and anaphylaxis management, and the ability to work part-time (7am–2:30pm, Mon–Fri) within a supportive, values-led team.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary child safe practices (or willingness to develop this knowledge)
- Current Food Safety Supervisor training, with a certificate to be provided
- Current food allergens training, with a certificate to be provided
- Geccko child safety training, with a certificate to be provided
- Available for permanent part-time work across Monday to Friday, 7am-2:30pm, with flexibility as required
- Considerable proven experience as a Chef or Cook in an Early Childhood setting (preferred) and/or within hospitality
- Culinary qualifications desirable, but not essential
- Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma certifications encouraged (at own cost)
- Passion for preparing and cooking well-balanced meals for children
