Central Utility Controls Engineer

Job Summary
Develop Functional Specifications, including SOO and BOMs, while supporting Electrical Designers to create project drawing packages. Create, test, and deploy PLCs, DCSs, and HMIs for Central Utility Applications, then develop Test Plans for FAT and SAT to support execution. Perform loop checks, start-up, and commissioning activities as required, while troubleshooting malfunctioning systems and delivering formal and informal customer training. This role supports the definition of Boiler, Chiller, Water Polishing, and BOP solutions using automation technologies from industry-leading OEMs. Travel expectations are 25% for customer meetings, site visits, and field duties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
- 3-6 years of relevant controls experience
- Working knowledge of the following automation functions or similar. (Boiler Combustion Controls, 3-Element Control, Burner Management Systems, Chiller controls and staging, Water Polishing, Combined Heat & Power, District Heating or Cooling, etc.)
- Working experience with any of the following technology providers or equivalent. (Rockwell Automation, AVEVA, Ignition, Emerson DeltaV, etc.)
- Working experience with any of the following communication protocols common in industry (Modbus, EthernetIP, DNP3, OPC, BACnet, Profinet, etc.)
- Travel expectations are 25% for customer meetings, site visits and field duties.
Desired Qualifications
- PE License
- Ability to lead others in accomplishing portions of project scope and provide project leadership.
- Additional years of experience are welcome.
