Job Summary
Manage instrument exchange carts, par level carts, and single peel packs to meet established quotas, delivering supplies to surgical suites on time. Decontaminate, disinfect, test, adjust, and assemble mobile patient equipment while assisting in decontaminating designated surgical instrumentation. Inventory, order, and stock medical disposable goods in storage areas, handling materials within the sterile processing area. Perform quality assurance processes, random sampling of products, and document sterilization procedures. Effectively enter and modify information in the instrument tracking system while incorporating infection control guidelines during package transfer and transport. Answer telephones and handle face-to-face interactions with internal and external customers. Participate in continuous quality improvement processes.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Certified Or Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA)
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)
- Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER)
- Provisional certification is acceptable
- 400 hours of on-hands training will need to be achieved prior to expiration of the provisional certification
- Sterile Proc & Dist-Cert CBSPD
- Central Sterile tech (HSPA)
- Knowledge of specific health care products
- Knowledge of patient care equipment
- Knowledge of surgical instruments
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic use is required
- Completion of formal central service technician or surgical technologist education program
- Basic computer skills
- Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
