Central Sterile Supply Technician (SPD)

Job Summary
Receive, disassemble, and inspect reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation for damage. Perform decontamination by removing gross contaminants using wiping, soaking, rinsing, scrubbing, or ultrasonic equipment, then examine items to ensure proper function. Assemble specialty trays and instrument sets, selecting appropriate wrapping or packaging materials for Ethylene Oxide or steam sterilization. Label, seal, and aerate sterilized items before stocking them in the sterile storage room. Manage regulated medical waste, general waste, and soiled linen while complying with OSHA regulations and infection control standards. Coordinate with OR staff to ensure instrument readiness and maintain documentation. Work full-time Monday through Friday with PM, overnight, and rotating shifts as required.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate
- Completion of a central sterile supply training course
- Current certification by the International Association of Healthcare Central Services Materials Management
- Current certification by the National Institute of Health Care Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel
- Ability to work PM, overnight, and rotating shifts as required
