Job Summary
Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies adhering to sterile techniques and manufacturer guidelines. Reprocess, assemble, and maintain specialized instruments used in the operating room and patient care areas. Assist clinical staff with advocacy services while initiating quality assurance monitoring and documenting required information. Identify, distribute, and deliver supplies to appropriate areas while maintaining inventory levels. Provide biological and chemical test solutions to ensure consistent decontamination. Complete continuous education and training in decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience
- completion of REOC Sterile Processing Training Program
- Acceptable communication skills
- Understand verbal and written instructions
- If hired on or after January 1, 2014, candidate must pass a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians
- hold and maintain one of the following credentials administered by a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization CRCST - Certified and Registered Central Service Technician within 1-1/2 years
- CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech within 1-1/2 years
- a substantially equivalent credential within 1-1/2 years
