Job Summary
The Central Service Technician is responsible for performing duties related to the sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments and trays. The role includes decontaminating and inspecting surgical instruments, transporting equipment between departments, and maintaining equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions. Essential functions also include cleaning and decontaminating reusable patient equipment, assembling instrument trays, and operating sterilizers according to departmental procedures. Applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and possess strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience in Central Service and relevant certifications.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or next level of higher education
- Strong leadership ability
- Good organizational skills
- Independent and critical thinking skills
- Sound judgment
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment
Desired Qualifications
- One (1)- three (3) years of Central Service experience
- CRCST and/or a Surgical Technician background
