Central Scheduling Coordinator

Job Summary
Provide clerical support in our call center by answering patient and referral source inquiries, collecting demographic/insurance/records information to schedule appointments, processing third-party referrals, coordinating referral procedures with clinical units and billing, applying physician preferences when scheduling, reviewing medical charts, verifying eligibility with third parties, maintaining patient portals and assisting with portal access, and traveling to other UOI locations as needed. The role requires strong verbal and written communication, EMR proficiency, knowledge of referral processes, and the ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- One year or more of experience working in a call center, medical practice or an insurance organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Electronic Medical Records Experience
- Knowledge of third party referral processes
- Skill in computer applications in word processing and spreadsheets
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
- Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities
- Ability to be an effective communicator with regular and frequent contact with patients, insurance companies, and other outside agencies
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal departments
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems
