Job Summary
Center Supervisor leads teaching staff in AVANCE’s Head Start/Early Head Start and Parent-Child Education programs, acts as the operational lead for the center to ensure compliance with program policies, licensing, and Head Start standards, provides coaching and supervision to teachers, oversees curriculum implementation and weekly lesson planning, coordinates with ELIMs on staff development and child outcomes data, ensures CACFP reporting, supports family engagement and transitions to Pre-K, and collaborates across teams to meet school readiness goals; requires an Associate degree, CLASS certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months), teaching experience in early childhood, supervision/leadership experience, and travel up to 25%.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in early childhood, Child Development, or related field
- CLASS Certification (or ability to become certified within 12 months from date of placement in the Center Director I role) for Early Head Start and Head Start
- Previous experience teaching in an early childhood setting
- Experience managing an infant/toddler or preschool program
- Experience with supervision, management or coaching preferred
- TXDFPS Licensing Directorship Certification
- First Aid and CPR training
- Good writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in MS Office software applications, computer literate
- Spanish fluency helpful, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, parents, and external partners
- A highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to be extremely effective independently
- Forward-looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
- Ability to travel to various training sessions
- Must have dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, (subject to annual MVR check and policy), current auto liability insurance, and be bondable by AVANCE, San Antonio, Inc.
