Center Store Manager

Job Summary
Lead day-to-day operations of Grocery, Frozen/Dairy, Natural/Organic, and HBC/GM departments by directing associates, balancing inventory, and coordinating vendor orders. Execute operational plans to ensure departments are stocked, organized, and meet goals while troubleshooting issues and maintaining pricing accuracy. Provide hands-on leadership coverage for the Senior Manager as needed, train staff on best practices, and step in at registers or support closing procedures. Uphold safety policies and regulatory standards across all assigned areas. Full-time role with rotating shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years of leadership experience with a strong ability to coach, motivate, and develop teams
- Thorough knowledge of the retail food business
- Prior experience managing a center store department
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to learn and use various systems, including Point-Of-Sale register system
- Understanding of store safety policies and ability to identify potential hazards
- Ability to learn and safely use the following equipment: power jack, walk behind lift, WAV, baler, compactor
- Ability to stand in place for long periods of time
- Ability to walk in the store
- Ability to bend, stoop and kneel regularly
- Fine finger and broad manual dexterity
- Eye-hand-foot coordination
- Full range of upper body motion
- Ability to lift stock
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
- Functional sensory abilities
- Ability to visually monitor the store
- Ability to create attractive displays
- Ability to operate equipment
- Ability to lift up 50-60 pounds on an occasional basis
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and humidity levels
- Ability to move between temperature-controlled areas
- Ability to move between freezers
- Ability to move between coolers
- Ability to move between the receiving area
- Ability to perform occasional outdoor tasks
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience managing a center store department preferred
