Job Summary
Lead and support Center Store departments including Grocery, Frozen/Dairy, Natural & Organic, and Health & Beauty Care by adapting focus to daily business needs. Step in to lead teams during Center Store Manager absences, ensuring department standards, inventory levels, and pricing remain accurate. Train and coach new and current associates while reinforcing company culture and guest service expectations. Verify timekeeping, communicate schedule issues to HR, and step in at the register or support closing procedures as needed. Maintain cleanliness across work areas, shelving, coolers, and the sales floor. Assist with writing performance reviews, documenting policy violations, and collaborating with management on corrective actions. Provide helpful guest service by addressing product locations, special orders, and guest concerns. This full-time role involves rotating shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with occasional closing support.
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Full range of upper body motion in order to lift stock
- Ability to lift up 50-60 pounds on an occasional basis
- Proper training and knowledge of equipment such as point-of-sale systems, hand jacks, balers, forklifts, hand trucks, and trash compactors
- Understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies, with the ability to recognize and react to possible safety hazards
- Ability to make timely and effective decisions, communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment, and manage a diverse team
- Thorough knowledge of the retail food business, especially non-perishable department operations, and strong merchandising skills
- Familiarity with store operations and the ability to coordinate effectively with store and vendor teams
- Ability to stand in place for long periods of time
- Ability to walk in the store
- Ability to bend, stoop and kneel regularly
- Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination in order to operate equipment
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
- Functional sensory abilities in order to visually monitor the store, create attractive displays, and to operate equipment
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and humidity levels, moving between temperature-controlled areas, freezers, coolers, and the receiving area, with occasional outdoor tasks to inspect store property
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
Desired Qualifications
- Leadership experience (manager or lead) in retail, grocery, warehouse, or restaurant preferred
