Center Medical Specialist Position for an EMT or Paramedic

Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations, establish medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability to determine eligibility for plasma donation. Build rapport with donors, ensure confidentiality, and provide education on general health and counseling for unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries, adverse events, and any history of illness or medications. Assist in employee training and administer the Hepatitis Vaccine program. Perform tasks while standing or sitting for extended periods, handling light lifting and potential exposure to biological fluids. Requires current EMT Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic licensure, CPR certification, and specific physical and sensory attributes. Located in Lake Charles, USA.
Required Qualifications
- EMT Basic, EMT Advanced or Paramedic
- Currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Hearing acuity
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
- Ability to work standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
- Ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to occasionally walk, bends and twists at waist
- Ability to lift 15lbs with a maximum lift of 50lbs
- Ability to reach below shoulder height
