Job Summary
Perform physical examinations, establish medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability for plasma donation centers. Build rapport with donors to ensure satisfaction while providing education on general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries, adverse events, and any history of illness or medications. Ensure donor and staff confidentiality and maintain donor awareness regarding potential hazards. Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program and assist in employee training. Work both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours daily with light lifting of 15lbs and maximum lift of 50lbs. Requires current EMT or Paramedic licensure, CPR certification, and ability to work in extreme cold conditions below 32 degrees F.
Required Qualifications
- EMT or Paramedic licensure
- Current CPR certification
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician
- Hearing acuity essential
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
- Ability to work standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
- Ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Ability to squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to walk, bends and twists at waist
- Ability to lift 15lbs
- Ability to lift a maximum of 50lbs
- Ability to reach below shoulder height
