Job Summary
Center Director will oversee the Cape Town center’s end-to-end operations, focusing on strategy and leadership, program delivery, student services, and compliance. Responsibilities include strengthening local partnerships with universities, internship providers, housing vendors, and service providers; overseeing the academic program, including internships and faculty development; managing student life, visa requirements, orientation, and safety protocols; leading recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing staff development; ensuring health, safety, and security standards; supervising program evaluation; handling financial and legal management as managing director of the local entity; planning facilities and housing solutions; driving external relations, internships, and community engagement; supporting marketing and promotional materials, and performing other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include at least ten years of leadership experience in study abroad or related higher education settings; a Ph.D. is preferred while a master’s degree or international equivalent is required; demonstrated leadership, staff management, financial management, and stakeholder engagement skills; and authorization to work in Cape Town. This is a senior, full-time management position based in Cape Town, South Africa, within CIEE’s Global Operations and Outbound Exchange Division.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum ten years of leadership experience in study abroad, international education, or a related higher education setting
- Ph.D. preferred; master’s degree or international equivalent required
- Proven ability to lead teams, recruit and onboard staff, manage finances and budgets, ensure health, safety, and security compliance, and engage with external partners and stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to navigate U.S. and local academic environments and institutions
- Authorization to work in Cape Town
