Job Summary
Monitor Office of Head Start and CACFP regulations while maintaining professional boundaries with children and families. Prepare meals and snacks per menus, shop for groceries and supplies, and clean meal preparation areas, storages, and classrooms weekly. Engage in daily activities with children, model healthy eating habits, and assist in regular program operations. Maintain accurate records, report suspected child abuse or neglect, and respond to emergencies. Collaborate positively with the teaching team, parents, and community partners. Participate in professional development to ensure regulatory compliance. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must successfully complete all required state and federal background clearances
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record
- Must have reliable transportation available for work-related travel
- Ability to move throughout classrooms, playgrounds, and program facilities
- Ability to supervise and actively engage with children in indoor and outdoor environments
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed throughout the workday
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Understanding of mandated reporting requirements, including the ability to recognize, document, and report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with state law and program procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with early childhood programs and food service
