Job Summary
As a Center Assistant, you will create a safe, positive environment for children and families while supporting access to high quality programming. Additionally, you will shop for groceries and supplies, prepare meals and assist with cleaning, play with children and assist in regular daily activities. You will follow regulations of Head Start, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), and CACFP; maintain confidentiality; model healthy eating and support children’s individual needs; assist with meal preparation, maintain cleanliness of meal prep and storage areas, and help with classroom and shop duties. You will report and maintain records as assigned, be familiar with emergency procedures, communicate positively with children, parents, teaching team, and peers, participate in professional development, and perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience with early childhood programs and food service preferred
- A criminal records background check, including fingerprint checks
- A valid Michigan driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
