Job Summary
Conduct advanced technical work in bridge and roadway construction inspection, including materials sampling, testing, and field measurements of pay items. Lead complex inspections and supervise routine inspections to ensure compliance with construction contracts, while making significant decisions and providing work direction to lower-level inspectors. Coordinate with contractors, design engineers, and project managers to resolve construction issues, monitor progress, and maintain comprehensive documentation including daily reports and quality assurance logs. Participate in pre-construction, concepts, and close-out meetings to support project delivery. This role requires US citizenship, a valid driver's license, and six years of experience. Full-time position in Southeast, North, or Atlanta, Georgia.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma plus 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
- US Citizenship
- Valid US Driver's License
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Management (4-year curriculum) and five (5) years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency
- Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods and equipment used in bridge/highway construction and engineering
- Ability to read and comprehend bridge plans, Bridge Foundation Investigation reports, Contractor's layouts, and all other documents associated with the project
- Ability to read, comprehend, and produce test pile and driving pile data
- Ability to process information from the GDOT Bridge Manual as it relates to field activities
- Required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location
