Job Summary
Conduct field inspections to ensure work meets standards and specifications, utilizing material sampling and testing equipment while approving testing procedures. Inspect traffic control and help contractors maintain workplace safety standards, creating timely documentation of construction activities and inspection findings. Operate a company vehicle to travel to construction sites or deliver material samples, logging daily reports on an IPAD. Requires 2+ years of construction inspection experience with heavy highway/roadway background, a valid Kansas driver's license, and ability to read plans. Travel anywhere in the state with occasional overnight stays for remote projects.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of construction inspection experience
- A general knowledge of construction techniques
- An ability to read plans and specifications
- Must possess a valid Kansas driver license
- Maintain a clean driving record
- Good communication and documentation skills
- The ability to communicate findings or instructions with engineers, other inspectors, and material testing technicians
- Must be able to use an IPAD or equivalent to log daily inspection reports
- Must be alert to equipment in the field
- Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery
- Occasional need to walk on uneven ground
- Exposure to dust, gas or fumes
- Exposure to noise
- Exposure to extremes in temperature or humidity
- Potential work at heights
- Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stoop, crawl, and lifting
- Must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 20 pounds
