Job Summary
Implement and improve the clinical documentation improvement program by supervising clinical documentation specialists and ensuring their tasks align with other departments. Collaborate with the Director of CDI/Data Quality, CDS Manager, and medical staff to formulate strategies that enhance clinical documentation quality. Work synergistically with the Health Information Department and Case Management to support broader departmental functions. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient and employee information while functioning independently in a stressful environment. Requires a Bachelor's degree in medicine/surgery or PA/RN license, two years of CDS experience, and CCS certification. Full-time day shift position with competitive compensation and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medicine/ surgery or license as a physician assistant or registered nurse
- A minimum of two years' experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
- Extensive knowledge of nursing care, clinical measurement tools, and clinical outcomes
- Certification as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or acquiring CCS certification within 6 months of assuming the position
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to function in a stressful environment
- Ability to encourage and assist with team building
- Excellent writing and verbal skills
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, both patient and employee
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Computer literacy and familiarity with the operation of basic office equipment
- Working knowledge of the Medicare reimbursement system and coding structures
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of inpatient admission criteria
- Ability to work independently in a time-oriented environment
