Job Summary
Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers by emptying containers into the truck and hauling materials to disposal sites or recycling plants. Operate various types of trucks across multiple routes, performing approximately 300-500 daily truck entries and exits. Pick up missed stops, deliver containers, and replace them neatly at the curb. Clean waste spills, overflows, the packer blade, truck body, and cab. Maintain and update route and driver log sheets while conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Professionally interact with internal and external customers. Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. This role supports Rumpke's mission to deliver waste and recycling solutions through a commitment to safety and service.
Required Qualifications
- Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
- Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
- Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
- Must be able to read and speak the English language
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs
- Must be able to push/pull 75 lbs
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs
- Must be able to work outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
- Must be able to work in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
- Must be able to stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl
- Must be able to climb and/or balance
- Must be able to sit/stand/walk in an office environment
- Must be able to travel between offices, as required
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Minimum 1-2 years CDL truck driving experience
- Ability to get certified in various trucks
- Ability to enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day
- Ability to read and understand a map
- Ability to drive all types of trucks in fleet
- Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills
- General knowledge of truck mechanics
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Must be able to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
Desired Qualifications
- Waste industry experience, a plus
