Job Summary
Operate commercial and large vehicles, including dump trucks and snow plows, to make deliveries, complete assignments, and maintain County-owned roads and bridges. Monitor loading and unloading of cargo, inspect vehicles and safety equipment, and maintain logs of activities and mileage. Perform maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning, snow and ice removal, trimming, weeding, pest management, fertilizing, and clearing debris from catch basins and roadways. Complete service requests and adhere to safety protocols and traffic laws. Must be available for call-backs, emergency call-outs, extended shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Requires a Class A CDL and one year of related experience.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED
- active commercial driver's license for heavy vehicles (Class A)
- active Pennsylvania driver's license clear of ineligible infractions
- minimum of one year's directly related work experience in the operation of commercial and large vehicles, construction equipment, and maintenance work equipment
- English language skills sufficient to communicate clearly with customers, understand operating manuals, and read traffic signs
- knowledge of Pennsylvania transport regulations
- knowledge of vehicles operated and their parts sufficient to handle minor repairs on the road
- must be available to work call-back, emergency call-out, extended shifts, as well as evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
