Job Summary
Operate a fully automated side-loading truck to collect solid waste on specified residential routes, requiring high-level precision driving and complex hydraulic system control. Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete daily truck reports and route sheets, and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations. Promptly report mechanical issues to the shop mechanic and supervisor, while identifying and reporting unacceptable waste materials to ensure safe disposal. Maintain route quality standards, keep the vehicle clean, and attend mandatory safety meetings. This role involves independent field work with minimal supervision, requiring a valid CDL Class A or B and two years of commercial driving experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of commercial driving experience OR a certificate of completion from an accredited CDL school
- Ability to meet all criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to DOT and company standards
- Demonstrated ability to safely maneuver large vehicles in tight spaces, including backing distances of 120 feet or more using mirrors
- Understanding of truck components and basic maintenance requirements for safe operation
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Ability to sit for approximately 75% of the shift and coordinate multiple limbs for vehicle and equipment controls
- Strong visual depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to work in loud, vibrating environments
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
