Job Summary
Oversee assigned jobs and contracts by applying herbicides for weed, grass, and brush control along railroad tracks. Mix tanks, calibrate spray equipment, and perform daily truck inspections, routine maintenance, and system repairs. Maintain accurate daily and weekly records while ensuring all work complies with safety guidelines and regulations. Communicate with customers to address complaints professionally and identify vegetation types to understand proper application methods and safety requirements. Operate manual transmission trucks with a valid CDL and tanker endorsement, traveling away from home for 6-10 weeks at a time. Receive paid training in vegetation identification, chemical usage, and equipment operation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 21+ years of age or older
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check for railroad property access
- Valid CDL (Class A or B) with tanker and air brake endorsements
- 5 years of total clean driving experience required
- Must be able to operate manual transmission trucks (no automatic restrictions)
- Ability to travel away from home for 6-10 weeks at a time (DCS covers hotel accommodations and per diem)
- Must comply with company drug and alcohol policy
Desired Qualifications
- Increase in pay if prior experience in Hi-Rail/Vegetation Spray Industry
- Increase in pay if a Commercial Pesticide Applicators license is obtained after hire
