Job Summary
CDL Hi-Rail Technician responsible for spraying herbicides along railroad tracks, maintaining trucks and spray equipment, mixing tanks and calibrating spray gear, performing daily truck inspections and routine maintenance, and keeping accurate records. Role includes travel up to 8 weeks at a time, flexibility for 10–12 hour shifts (Mon–Fri with some weekends/nights), safety-compliant work, customer communication, vegetation identification, and adherence to safety regulations. Training is provided in vegetation identification, chemical usage, safety procedures, and equipment operation/maintenance. Compensation includes a $24.00/hour wage, comprehensive benefits, 401(k), PTO, and opportunities for career growth, with potential license-related pay increases after hire.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CDL (Class A or B) with tanker and air brake endorsements
- 5 years of total clean driving experience
- Must be able to operate manual transmission trucks (no automatic restrictions)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check for railroad property access
