Job Summary
Oversee assigned jobs and contracts by applying herbicides for weed, grass, and brush control along railroad tracks. Mix tanks, calibrate spray equipment, and perform daily truck inspections, routine maintenance, and system repairs. Maintain accurate daily and weekly records while ensuring all work complies with safety guidelines and regulations. Identify vegetation types, understand proper application methods, and communicate with customers to address complaints professionally. Most work occurs Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm in 10–12-hour shifts, with occasional weekend or night work and travel to offices during breaks. Candidates must have a Class A or B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements, five years of clean driving experience, and be 21 or older. Paid training covers vegetation identification, chemical usage, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 21+ years of age or older
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check for railroad property access
- Must have a Class A or B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements
- 5 years of total clean driving experience required
- Ability to travel away from home for 4–6 weeks at a time
- Flexible schedule: Most work is Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm, with 10–12-hour shifts
- Some weekend or night work may be required
- Hours may vary with weather and workload
- Occasionally travel to offices during breaks for routine truck/equipment maintenance
- Must comply with company drug and alcohol policy
