Job Summary
Load, transport, and deliver copper concentrate in live-bottom, end dump, or container trailers to mines and aggregate sites across Arizona and New Mexico. Operate a combination vehicle with a manual 10-speed configuration, wearing a half-face respirator and other PPE for specific tasks. Perform duties including crawling on hands and knees to open bottom hatches, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 70 pounds. Work local and regional routes with varying hours, occasionally staying overnight with short notice. Maintain compliance with FMCSA hours of service and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL
- HAZMAT endorsement
- Minimum 23 Years of age
- 1-year experience operating a combination vehicle
- Valid DOT Physical
- No more than 2 moving violations within the previous 3 years
- No major violations within the previous 5 years
- Successful respirator physical
- Respirator fit test
- Ability to pass a satisfactory road test
- Ability to pass a controlled substance test
- Qualified to operate a combination vehicle as a driver in compliance with FMCSA
- Ability to operate a manual 10-speed configuration
- Insurable under the company's vehicle insurance policy
- Ability to work varying hours and schedules; occasionally staying overnight with short notice
- Proficient in performing tasks in rapid succession, handling stressful situations, making quick decisions, and reacting
- Ability to crawl on hands and knees to open and close bottom hatches on the underside of the trailer
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, push and/or move up to 70 pounds
- Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders, working at elevations of 14 feet above the ground
- Ability to sit, drive, shift gears and stay awake for long periods of time
- Ability to conduct tasks while wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Clean-shaven daily
- Must be available for work when hours are available, according to FMCSA's hours of service regulations
- Understand and comply with organizational policies and procedures and all applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations
- Must wear a half-face respirator for specific tasks
- Must wear a full and/or half-mask respirator for any job task that requires a respirator
- Must wear a hard hat with face shield
- Must wear goggles/spoggles
- Must wear gloves
- Must wear a long sleeve shirt
- Must wear a reflective vest
- Must wear hearing protection
- Must wear a respirator mask
- Must wear steel toe boots
- Must undergo mandatory pre-employment and ongoing random testing
- Must pass a drug test including screening for marijuana and other prohibited substances
- Must comply with PPE requirements at all times while on mine and/or customer property
