Job Summary
CDL Driver Trainer will lead trucking training at the local campus, delivering instruction in over-the-road driving, pre-trip inspections, air-brake tests, backing and parking maneuvers, and CDL skill assessments. Responsibilities include convening classes, maintaining safety and confidential records, ensuring compliance with federal/state/accreditation rules, delivering classroom and hands-on training, administering written tests, evaluating student progress, and inspiring students while modeling professional behavior. Strong communication, leadership, and ability to relate to adult learners are required, along with proficiency with Microsoft and cloud-based tools. The role requires maintaining documentation, adhering to program policies, and staying current with industry standards to prepare students for licensure. The position emphasizes educating students, enforcing policies, and fostering a positive learning environment aligned with the program’s mission.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of verifiable on-the-road experience within the last 5 years
- MVR and background check including drug screening
- DOT physical and DOT drug screen
- Ability to pass a road test
- DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
