Job Summary
CDL Driver role operating hi-rail/rail-bound detector vehicles across Eastern or Western US, performing pre/post-trip inspections, DOT compliance, rail flaw detection testing support, and field maintenance in extreme conditions; requires CDL A/B with air brake endorsement, ability to pass DOT physical, strong communication, mechanical aptitude, and willingness for long periods of travel.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
- Experience operating hi-rail trucks and rail-bound detector cars
- Pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain DOT compliance, including driver logs, inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Wear required PPE at all times
- Complete required training, including annual Road Worker Safety
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of commercial driving experience
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Compensation & Benefits: $1,000 sign-on bonus (after 60 days of employment)

- Able to lift up to 85 lbs. (up to 100 lbs. when assisting)

- Data collection and interpretation from onboard computer systems
- Safety training and PPE usage
- Rail flaw detection testing support
- Travel extensively for extended periods
- Field-based work in varied weather conditions
- Ability to work in extreme environments
- Documentation and reporting via radio/intercom tools
- DOT compliance and driver logs management
- Reliability and teamwork in a railroad environment
- Rigorous safety standards adherence
- Ability to operate in a safety-sensitive environment
- Climb, crouch, bend, kneel, and crawl in confined spaces
