Job Summary
Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers with mobility devices, wheelchairs, and scooters during transport to work, medical appointments, and shopping. Follow established schedules as routed and dispatched while maintaining radio or phone contact with the dispatcher to report schedule changes and maximize efficiency. Conduct daily vehicle inspections, complete required logs, and operate vehicles safely while obeying all traffic laws. Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to DARTS' Substance Abuse Policy, including passing drug tests and participating in random testing programs. Ensure physical readiness to push or pull 175-400 pounds, assist ambulatory passengers with stairs, and secure mobility devices multiple times per shift. Work flexible in-person hours between 6am and 9pm, reporting for a regular, fully in-person position.
Required Qualifications
- Class C CDL License with Passenger Endorsement
- DOT Physical
- DHS NETStudy 2.0 background check
- passing a urine drug test after a contingent job offer
- participating in the random drug and alcohol testing program during employment
- current DOT Medical Card or passing a DOT physical examination after a contingent job offer
- passing subsequent physicals at DOT-specified intervals throughout employment
- good driving record during employment as set by DOT standards
- dependable, safety-focused, and enjoy serving the public
- excellent customer service skills
- ability to help passengers using mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs, scooters, walkers)
- physical strength to be able to help passengers using mobility devices
- physically able to push/pull 175-400 pounds up or down inclines
- ability to help ambulatory passengers up and down stairs
- ability to exit and enter the bus with each client
- ability to step-up approximately 20" to enter bus multiple times during shift
- ability to physically bend over to secure wheelchairs to the floor multiple times during shift
- ability to squat or get down on one or both knees multiple times during shift
- desire to assist and work with older adults
- Special Transportation Services Certificated training
- Passenger Assistance Training
- First Aid
- Defensive Driving
