Job Summary

Conduct safe, timely deliveries of building materials to customer locations and job sites, combining driving with hands-on loading, unloading, and securing of oversized loads. Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections per DOT/FMCSA regulations while planning routes for traffic, weather, and road restrictions. Maintain regular communication with dispatch, obtain customer signatures, and verify delivered materials against documentation. Assist with loading and unloading using proper lifting techniques, manage electronic logs and mobile applications, and report maintenance concerns or safety incidents immediately. Wear required PPE, inspect delivery sites for hazards, and adapt to changing weather and jobsite conditions. May require overtime, weekend work, or overnight travel based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to work independently while managing daily delivery schedules
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to operate mobile applications, GPS systems, and electronic delivery tools
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid CDL Class A or B license in good standing
  • Clean driving record and ability to meet company driving requirements
  • Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background requirements as applicable
  • Primarily field-based with frequent driving throughout assigned service areas
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, traffic, construction sites, warehouses, and customer facilities
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, and enter or exit commercial vehicles
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds or more using proper lifting techniques
  • Frequent use of load securement equipment, mobile technology, and material handling equipment
  • May require overtime, weekend work, overnight travel, or flexible schedules based on operational needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred
  • Experience operating flatbed trucks, tractor-trailers, manual transmissions, or oversized load vehicles preferred
  • Forklift experience or ability to operate material handling equipment is a plus
  • Experience delivering building materials, construction products, trusses, wall panels, steel, rebar, roofing, or similar products preferred
