Job Summary

Operate a Class A truck to pick up and transport goods, livestock, and materials to destinations, ensuring contents are properly secured in open top hoppers and flatbeds. Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintain the truck by refueling, changing oil, and adjusting tire pressure, and operate electric lifts and hand trucks as needed. Obtain delivery signatures, confirm loads match manifests, and track working hours while adhering to DOT regulations and site safety protocols. Maintain detailed driving logs, follow predetermined routes, and notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues. Drive vehicles over 26,000 lbs with backing experience, operating within normal hours from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

  • CDL Driver Class A
  • minimum of 2 years' experience
  • operate a truck in a fleet that is less than 2 years old
  • Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
  • Pick-up and safely transport goods, livestock, etc. to the intended destination
  • Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck, open top hopper and flatbed to prevent damage/injury
  • Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries
  • Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery
  • Communicate with managers as needed
  • Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
  • Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
  • Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
  • Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
  • Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
  • Ability to follow instructions as the driver may not be driving every day and will need to be able to do other jobs to help on the worksite
  • Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
  • Track and report working hours
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
  • Comply company and DOT regulations
  • Always make safety a priority
  • Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
  • Able to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  • An innate sense of direction
  • Self-starter who works well independently
  • Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  • High level of composure and good stress management
  • Backing onto a Landfill Tipper with 53' trailer experience
  • Hand tool and Power tool use is required
  • Follow all site safety protocols
  • Full-time position
  • Local Driving only
  • Backing of trailer is required
  • Must have Safe Driving record with no pattern of moving violations/accidents in either a personal or commercial vehicle
  • Must meet DOT and company requirements related to drug and alcohol testing
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a current DOT physical card

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Dump experience preferred
  • Landfill tipper experience preferred
