Job Summary
Deliver materials to customer sites or branch locations while maintaining vehicle cleanliness, logs, and daily inspection reports. Load and unload materials at branches and customer locations, coordinate deliveries with other trucks, and adhere to all DOT regulations and company policies. Perform warehouse functions such as order filling, stocking shelves, and receiving as needed. Complete truck summaries, driver logs, and backup details daily. Drive over-length vehicles in tight areas, highway traffic, and off-road conditions, including rigging oversize loads and working in rail yards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Clean driving record
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English
- Valid Class A (or B) CDL driver's license for the state of residence
- Current medical certification
- Must complete on-site or local training center driver training courses to acquire a CDL license (for Trainees)
- Must successfully complete the CDL driving state test when training is complete (for Trainees)
- Ability to effectively complete pre/post trip vehicle inspections
- Ability to effectively complete cargo securement techniques
- Ability to utilize technology used in/on the vehicles such as Drive Cam, Encompass, and handheld capture/POD devices DVIR/E-log
- Understanding of required equipment/info in vehicle: Cab card, insurance card, IFTA permits/decals, accident kit, fire extinguisher, spill kit, safety triangles
- Ability to complete orientation to vehicle (box truck, curtain side, Moffett, lift gate, etc.) and special equipment (Moffett, Pole crane trucks, etc.)
- Ability to drive with Border States CDL Driver Mentor during training process
- Must observe and adhere to all local, state, and federal DOT regulations and Border States driver policies
- Must have a full understanding of truck routes
- Ability to coordinate deliveries with our own trucks
- Ability to load and unload material at the branch and customer locations
- Ability to perform Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) as part of their daily route
- Ability to perform warehouse functions including order filling, stocking shelves, processing returns, receiving and shipping
- Ability to check and pack material to be delivered
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate
- Ability to lift and carry weights as specified in Physical Requirements

- Must pass a criminal background check (required for all positions)
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check (required for positions involving driving)
- Must pass drug testing
Desired Qualifications
- 2-year business/trade degree or equivalent in work experience
- Prior warehouse distribution experience
- Forklift operation experience
- Good knowledge of electrical products/systems
- Working knowledge of PC for Windows, internet, email, and SAP software
