Job Summary
Operate Class A or B commercial vehicles and specialized boom crane equipment to deliver wall panels, trusses, and building materials to active construction sites and completed locations. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections, manage driving logs, and organize loads to ensure compliance with federal regulations and safety standards. Safely maneuver cranes to load and unload materials, assist in stocking warehouse inventory, and supervise associates as needed. Deliver and unload merchandise accurately while maintaining truck cleanliness and organization.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years CDL experience
- Experience transporting and handling lumber and building materials
- Class A CDL License
- Class B CDL License
- Maintain current operator's license and meet company driver qualification requirements
- Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques
- Knowledge and understanding of federal DOT regulations, logbook requirements, and HOS compliance
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of crane and boom safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to lift, secure and transport loads safely using a boom crane
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills
- Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating boom trucks and truck-mounted cranes
- Experience with load charts, rigging practices, and weight distribution for safe crane operation
- Certified Drill Rig Operator-NCCCO Boom Certification
- Maintain active accredited certification for equipment type (e.g. NCCCO, NCCER, CIC)
