Job Summary
Operate a commercial vehicle according to state and federal transportation laws, transporting loads safely and in a timely manner over required routes while obeying all traffic and safety regulations. Deftly maneuver the truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas following crew signals, then assist with or perform loading and unloading of goods and materials using specialized equipment as warranted. Maintain signed invoices and shipping bills of lading, deliver documentation to the shipping office upon route completion, and facilitate routine truck service checks including oil, water, gasoline, and air levels. Arrange trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns and report any maintenance malfunctions to the Shipping Supervisor. Perform other related duties as assigned while adhering to the Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule with overtime pay after 40 hours and subject to on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Commercial drivers license (Class A CDL) or chauffeur's license depending on state, appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations
- Must pass DOT physical, as trucks driven are over 10k lbs
- Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicle
- Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds at a time
- Must be able to travel frequently
- Must hold either a commercial drivers license (Class A CDL) or chauffeur's license depending on state, appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated
