Job Summary
Inspect and monitor truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after each trip while recording on ELD. Verify freight is loaded correctly and safely secured, review shipping documents for accuracy, and install or remove tire chains as dictated by weather. Transport building materials and components by maneuvering the vehicle in heavy traffic, inclement weather, and tight areas while adhering to DOT safety policies and all local, state, and federal regulations. Promptly report highway hazards, delays, breakdowns, or accidents involving drivers or equipment. Maintain alertness for up to 11 hours while driving a manual transmission vehicle and comply with EPS's Commercial Class A Operators License requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid current Commercial Class A Operators License
- At least 1 year previous CDL driving experience
- 21 years old
- Ability to read/speak English language
- Ability to safely operate vehicle with the ability to read maps and road signs
- Physically qualified with current Medical Card
- Must furnish a list of violations
- Cannot be disqualified
- Must complete road test or equivalent
- Must be able to remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 11 hours
- Must be able to drive manual transmission
- Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
- Must be able to pass a Drug Test (pre-employment; reasonable suspicion; random; post-accident)
- Must be able to pass an Alcohol Test (reasonable suspicion; random; post-accident)
