Job Summary
Teach Class A driving skills in outdoor yards using hands-on training for automatic and manual transmissions. Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving; prepare them to pass CDL testing standards on the first attempt. Track student attendance and progress, maintain training records and documentation, and report incidents to the lead/corporate. Work with fellow instructors and the Lead Instructor to deliver a consistent student experience and follow our curriculum. Help keep the yard/building clean and presentable; cover for other instructors at nearby regional yards in emergencies. 90-day probationary period to ensure safety, compliance, and curriculum adherence. Assist with transferring trucks to repair operations and nearby yards. Career path from Yard Instructor to Lead Instructor to Regional Manager. Required Qualifications
- CDL Class A license
- Instructor/trainer experience preferred
- Ability to teach pre-trip inspections and behind-the-wheel training
- Experience with instruction in outdoor yard environments
- Ability to maintain training records and documentation
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Willingness to cover at regional yards as needed
- Ability to climb in/out of a tractor cab and operate in various weather conditions
