Job Summary
Operate a Class B local delivery truck on daily routes with frequent stops, loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading product at each designated location. Verify deliveries with customers, obtain signatures, and report shortages or discrepancies to management. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT regulations, handle customer complaints professionally, and maintain proper equipment. Frequently lift, push, or move product weighing up to 100 pounds while navigating various traffic and weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED or equivalent
- One-year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
- Valid Commercial Driver's License – Class B (Class A preferred)
- Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records
- Ability to operate vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions
- Ability to meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company
- Ability to meet or exceed established cases per error goals
- Strong customer relations and problem resolution skills
- Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision
- Good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures
- Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations
- Proven ability to communicate articulately and perform simple arithmetic
- Ability to frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds
- Ability to frequently reach up to 72" to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart
- Ability to constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer
- Ability to climb on and off the box of the truck
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Must be able to handle product down ramps, stairs, or docks
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in handling money
- Class A license
