Job Summary

Conduct waste collection, transport, and disposal services across customer sites in retail, healthcare, and municipal accounts. Classify, segregate, and inventory waste containers; load, secure, and unload trucks using hand trucks, forklifts, or other heavy equipment. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, complete route sheets and manifests, and adhere to DOT hours of service and safety guidelines. Handle DEA waste where required and report incidents to management. Travel up to 4 nights per week with paid hotel and per diem, working overtime as needed. Maintain a Class B CDL, valid MEC, and TWIC card.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age in accordance with FMCSA guidelines
  • Possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • Maintain a current Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) and valid TWIC card
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly without assistance and up to 75 pounds unassisted on occasion
  • Ability to push and pull up to 500 pounds using a pallet jack, hand truck, or other device to assist
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled environments
  • Visual acuity to read labels and documentation and sufficient depth perception to safely operate forklifts
  • Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes, alarms, and other audible safety signals
  • Ability and willingness to wear company-issued personal protection equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator
  • Ability to operate powered equipment such as a forklift
  • Ability to operate a computer and printer to complete paperwork and web-based training
  • Ability to operate a mobile device and follow a hands-free GPS to ensure safe driving
  • Strong working knowledge of Environmental/Regulatory/DOT rules and regulations
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and/or DEA background check
  • Ability to politely deal with customers and team members
  • Ability to read a map
  • Fluency in verbal and written English
  • Ability to work overtime hours as needed based on business needs
  • Based on service center level and location, this position may require up to 4 overnight stays per week (with paid hotel expenses and a nightly per diem)

Desired Qualifications

  • HAZMAT and/or Tanker endorsement preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • 1+ years route driving experience preferred
  • 1+ years of waste industry experience preferred
  • Experience with a straight truck, or combo vehicle as well as roll-off bins/boxes preferred
