Job Summary
Operate a Class A tractor-trailer safely, completing pre- and post-trip inspections, monitoring hours of service, and maintaining accurate logs. Transport freight across downtown Chicago and surrounding suburbs on assigned routes, planning fuel stops and communicating proactively with the fleet manager regarding delays. Perform freight handling duties including observing store unloads, using lift gates and pallet jacks at inner-city locations, and managing tri-temp and dual-temp refrigerated loads. Represent the client professionally at customer sites, maintain equipment cleanliness, and report mechanical issues promptly. Work a 24/7 schedule with weekly home time, rotating shifts from 21:00 to noon. Prior refrigerated experience is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Minimum of 3 months of verifiable CDL-A driving experience
- Meeting all Department of Transportation qualification requirements
- Holding a current DOT medical certification
- An acceptable motor vehicle record and safety history
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Compliance with all federal testing requirements throughout employment
- Physical capability to perform freight handling including repeated lifting, climbing in and out of the trailer, and sustained activity across a full shift
- Willingness to stay active through the shift
- Home time availability (Home Weekly, two to three days home weekly with a 34-hour reset)
- Ability to work 24/7 shift times varying from 21:00 to noon, seven days a week with no set days off
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
