Job Summary
Operate a Class A tractor-trailer safely across the seven western states—WA, OR, ID, CA, NV, UT, and AZ—completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections while monitoring hours of service and maintaining accurate logs. Transport dry van freight on assigned routes from the Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga area to retail and manufacturing plants, verifying load counts, seals, and paperwork at pickup and delivery. Communicate proactively with the fleet manager regarding weather, traffic, or delays, and report mechanical issues promptly to prevent breakdowns. Average 2,000 miles per week on this dedicated building-products account with no-touch freight. Home time occurs every two weeks with two full days off every 10 to 14 days.
Required Qualifications
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Minimum of 3 months of verifiable CDL-A driving experience
- Meeting all Department of Transportation qualification requirements
- Holding a current DOT medical certification
- An acceptable motor vehicle record
- A safety history
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Compliance with all federal testing requirements throughout employment
- Ability to operate a Class A tractor-trailer safely and legally
- Ability to complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Ability to monitor hours of service
- Ability to keep logs accurate and current in accordance with federal regulations and company policy
- Ability to transport freight on schedule across the seven western states — WA, OR, ID, CA, NV, UT and AZ
- Ability to follow assigned routes
- Ability to plan fuel and rest stops sensibly
- Ability to communicate proactively with fleet manager when weather, traffic, or a customer delay puts a delivery window at risk
- Ability to verify load counts, seals, and paperwork at pickup and delivery
- Ability to secure freight correctly for transit
- Ability to complete bills of lading and delivery documentation accurately
- Ability to represent client professionally at every customer location
- Ability to maintain the condition and cleanliness of assigned equipment
- Ability to report mechanical issues promptly
- Ability to park at the Colton yard (within 50 miles of Colton) or take the truck home to a secure location
- Being legally authorized to work in the United States
